Quickly and efficiently understanding the existing product, the vision of the product and how it fits with customer needs and pain points.
Contributing to the code base in Python.
Writing Jupyter notebook examples to implement scientific papers on the platform to show to customers scientists
Regular communication with existing customer scientists, encouraging use of the platform with demos and showing-off new capabilities.
Writing customer facing documentation on the platform.
Attending customer sales meetings with the CEO when customer scientists will be present. Taking the technical lead in those meetings.
Speaking at conferences, both in the UK and internationally
Your time will be split roughly on 50% on R&D related activities, 25% on writing documentation, 25% on customer facing activities.
You will be reporting directly to the CEO.
We believe the ideal profile for the role will have the following features: You will be someone with a strong background in a hard-science from a world-leading university who has worked in academia, for example as a lecturer. This experience will have given you the ability and confidence to present to large audiences at conferences, design presentations on technical matters for both technical peers and non-technical parties. You will have the authority to debate issues relating to systematic trading with highly-qualified and experienced scientists from customer organizations.
You may then have moved into the world of systematic/algorithmic trading as a quantitative researcher at a Tier 1 hedge fund or prop shop. In this role you will have levered your scientific background to design predictors, portfolios and risk-profiles. You will have gained experience of how data, computing power and mathematics are used to game the global financial markets. You will have gained a deep understanding of the exchanges you worked with and the products you traded. After at least two years in such a role you have changed direction and are now looking for the next opportunity.
Your personality profile allows you the charisma and social capability to blend well with a range of senior technical and non-technical customers both inside the office environment and outside it.Requirements
- Post-doc, PhD degree in a scientific or technical discipline
- Strong Python programming skills
- Two years plus in a tier 1 algorithmic trading research role
- Strong technical writing skills
- Machine learning
- Knowledge of Apache Spark
