The Senior Analyst conducts innovative research and delivers advice through written reports, consulting, client inquiries, and speeches. As part of CognitionX’s business insights team writing to the application development and delivery (AD&D) role, this senior analyst serves professionals who are responsible for the success of their firms’ technology strategies for advanced analytics platforms, machine-learning and predictive analytics tools, and search and knowledge discovery solutions.

CognitionX is a community for innovators in the world of AI, Machine Learning and Data Science. We bring together Experts, Data Sources, Vendors, and Businesses looking for data driven solutions, through our events and online platform.

Working alongside founders Charlie Muirhead and Tabitha Goldstaub, you will gain first hand experience of what it takes to build a successful business whilst being supported by an incredible team, cutting-edge technology and so much more. Your role will involve a diverse set of tasks, with every new day bringing fresh and exciting challenges. You’ll become an integral part of team from the outset, with your responsibilities expanding each day, just like the company itself.

Responsibilities

  • Help define the future of the advanced analytics, machine-learning, and predictive analytics landscape by painting an accurate, forward-looking view and predicting the impact of new technologies, vendors, services, and pricing and sourcing models on an organization’s technology landscape, based on primary research.
  • Collaborate with senior and principal analysts on the business insights team to help both our technology-focused clients and our business-focused clients with their insights initiatives.
  • Develop a deep understanding of what CognitionX clients require to be successful as AD&D professionals.
  • Conduct research into key aspects of the responsibilities of AD&D professionals, including the sourcing and vendor management strategies, trends, and best practices related to advanced analytics.
  • Write a number of research documents per year that convey new ideas in a rich business context. These reports typically: 1) introduce new thinking about successful strategies and best and next practices; 2) present strategic maturity assessments and improvement road maps; 3) compare new technologies or services and their potential to help clients solve their business challenges (e.g., via a CognitionX evaluation); or 4) identify best practices that affect end user value.
  • Lead consulting engagements with clients to apply CognitionX’s research in the context of their specific business environments and help solve their problems through inquiry, advisory, and project consulting.
  • Present at CognitionX-sponsored and industry-related events, and deliver client webinars.
  • Establish an industry presence as an influential speaker and thinker; build relationships with senior AD&D professionals, the technology vendors that serve them, and the journalists who cover the sector; and participate in vendor briefings and field press inquiries as necessary.
  • Embrace social tools and build a market presence via social media.

Qualifications

  • Deep technical knowledge of the advanced analytics, machine-learning, and predictive analytics platform space, including open source technologies.
  • A strong record of academic achievement: B.A. or B.S. minimum; MBA or M.S. preferred.
  • Deep intellectual curiosity about the effect of technology on the business landscape; solid business instincts and a practical understanding of what makes companies tick; and a creative view of markets, technologies, and attitudes combined with a fascination with the future.
  • Superior listening, critical thinking, and writing skills, as well as memorable presentation skills. Senior analysts are expected to take complex, disparate ideas and distill them into simple, provocative concepts and be willing to take a stand on vendors and outcomes.
  • The ability to travel 30% to 50% of the time.
